UPDATE: Anthem’s dental PPO expands teledentistry
We support teledentistry as a way to reduce time away from work and to provide a simple and effective way to connect members with the care they need. Members can access dental care either in-office or remotely through smartphones, laptops, tablets by accessing websites, video streaming, secure email, or remote monitoring through electronic health records. Anthem covers teledentistry in all states where permitted – now including Texas.
Anthem’s dental network includes The TeleDentists® and Ortho@Home providers. The network gives our members simpler access to dental care when and where they need it most.
The TeleDentists offer virtual dental care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This helps improve access to care for certain dental issues including problem-focused exams, urgent or emergent care, and palliative treatment including non-Opioid prescriptions to relieve pain and/or inflammation. This extended access can help members avoid expensive emergency room and urgent care facility costs.
Members with orthodontia coverage can also choose virtual services for teeth straightening through our Ortho@Home network providers. Members with Ortho@Home care have access to at-home clear aligner therapy as well as retainers and teeth whitening when treatment is finished.
