In 2023, the Nevada Legislature passed two healthcare mandates that went into effect on January 1, 2024. The Large Group Evidence of Coverage (EOC) booklets were updated to include the new benefit mandates. Your Large Group clients enrolled in a 2024 medical plan will receive an EOC amendment with the new benefits. You can access it here.
Here’s a short summary of each mandate:
SB 194: Established a process for members and their care providers to submit an online request for a step therapy exemption in certain circumstances. Details on the mandate can be found here.
SB 439 – Requires health insurance carriers to cover testing, treatment, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections including HIV and hepatitis B and C. You can learn more about the mandate here.
