Annual MLR survey will be sent to employers soon

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield pays annual rebates to fully insured groups when their medical loss ratio (MLR) is less than 85% for large groups or 80% for small groups. Each year, we contact affected groups to verify group size. We use the information to calculate rebates. This year, we’ll ask for 2024 group size for distribution of MLR rebates in 2026.

We’ll start emailing the surveys to qualifying Small Group and Large Group clients in mid-July. We’ll send follow-up emails if groups don’t respond to the first message. For groups that don’t respond at all, we’ll use current membership numbers.
