For clients with Anthem Balanced Funding (ABF) arrangements, submitting enrollment changes on time is an important step to prevent delays in coverage and claim processing and reduces the chance of unexpected issues for your clients.
Under the ABF Administrative Services Agreement (ASA), enrollment and termination requests can generally be processed retroactively for up to 60 days from the date Anthem receives the request. Requests submitted after that 60-day period will not be approved for retroactive change.
It's also important to note that collecting payroll deductions does not enroll an employee in the health plan or extend the 60-day retroactive enrollment limit.
To help avoid coverage disruptions, encourage your ABF clients to:
- Submit enrollment and termination changes as soon as they occur.
- Review monthly bills and eligibility files regularly to help ensure employee information is current.
- Report changes promptly to help prevent delays in coverage or claims processing.
Contact your Anthem representative if you have questions.
