Anthem has finalized a new multi-year agreement with Scripps Health, ensuring continued in-network access across participating Scripps Health facilities and providers for applicable Anthem Blue Cross members.
We previously informed members that Scripps Health would terminate its contract with Anthem Blue Cross if contract negotiations were unsuccessful. These ongoing discussions resulted in the successful negotiation of a new multi-year contract, effective October 1, 2026.
Important for HMO members: This agreement does not include Anthem Blue Cross HMO plans. Members previously assigned to Scripps physicians transitioned to new in-network primary care physicians, effective October 1, 2026.
Important note regarding Scripps Health Medicare Participation: Scripps Health provided notice to terminate participation in the Medicare program for all PPO entities. As a result, the Medicare contracts for these entities terminated effective October 1, 2026.
Members can contact Anthem if they receive a bill from Scripps Health or an Explanation of Benefits from Anthem with an incorrect member responsibility amount. They can contact Anthem at the toll-free customer service number, 1-844-971-0117, or the toll-free member services number on the back of their ID card.
Our agreement with Scripps Health reflects our commitment to protecting access to high-quality care while keeping health care affordable, and provides a foundation to work together to improve health outcomes and help lower health care cost trends.
