Effective 9/1/24, we’ll pay dental providers directly if the member assigns benefits to them

Per recently passed state legislation, we will reimburse dental providers directly if a member of a Wisconsin group signs an assignment of benefits (AOB). The law takes effect September 1, 2024. The law applies to all providers, whether or not they are in the plan’s network.

An assignment of benefits is a document signed by the member agreeing to assign the insurance payment to the dental office. The dental office or patient files the AOB when submitting the claim for payment. If the AOB is signed, the payment will go to the dental office. Most dental offices have their own AOB process.
