Why you should care about Medicaid Disenrollments

This is the first in a series of articles about how a new law may impact millions of individuals who have enrolled in Medicaid since January 2020, and how this affects your business. Today’s article focuses on why this situation makes Medicaid particularly relevant to you.

During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, millions of Medicaid members have been able to stay enrolled regardless of changes in their eligibility status. Legislation signed into law in December 2022, allows states to begin removing ineligible members from their Medicaid programs as early as April 1, 2023. This means millions of people may no longer qualify for Medicaid coverage and will be looking for answers, guidance and health coverage. You can partner with them for help.

We expect many disenrolled individuals will seek coverage either through their employer or look to individual ACA-compliant plans. You play an important role in helping them understand all their options to stay covered, and we’ll provide you with all the resources and information you need to help them transition easily.

States will have up to 14 months to complete their Medicaid eligibility reviews, so the impact may extend well into 2024. You can count on us to support you throughout this period.
