New designated orthopedic network offers high-quality knee and hip procedures for HealthSync members

Large Group, Small Group | IN

On January 1, 2026, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is launching a new designated orthopedic network of providers and facilities that have demonstrated expertise in total knee and hip replacements, as well as revisions. HealthSync plan members will be directed to these providers, who deliver high-quality and lower-cost care.

Eligible hip and knee procedures performed at a designated orthopedic network facility will be covered under the employees' benefit plan. Normal cost-sharing such as deductibles or coinsurance will apply. Services received at a facility outside of the designated orthopedic network will not be eligible for coverage under any benefit tier.  Employees may request an exception through the appeal process, however, and individual circumstances will be reviewed.  Members living over 100 miles away from a designated network facility are exempt and will not be required to utilize the designated orthopedic network. They may choose to see a HealthSync provider in their plan's network.
