We have been in discussions for several months with the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, also known as UW Health, to keep them in-network for your clients’ healthcare plans. However, UW Health notified Anthem that its hospitals and physicians will leave our care provider network if we are unable to reach an agreement by April 15, 2025.
If they leave, your clients’ employees may pay more for care received from UW Health doctors and facilities. This includes care received from:
- American Family Children's Hospital.
- Generations Fertility Care.
- Madison Surgery Center.
- Meriter Hospital and Clinics.
- UW Health at The American Center.
- UW Health Care Direct.
- UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital.
- UW Health University Hospital and University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation Clinics.
- UW Systems.
- Wisconsin Sleep.
We emailed your clients on February 26 and will mail a letter to their employees the week of March 10, explaining this change and how it will impact their care and costs. Their plan may allow them to stay with a UW Health doctor or facility for a limited time if they’re receiving certain types of care. Their plan documents include more information about continuity of care.
Anthem wants to keep UW Health in our network, and we remain committed to reaching a new agreement. We will continue to negotiate in good faith on behalf of our members and employers.
