New infographic shows impact of pandemic on mental health

Behavioral health is an essential element of whole health. And we believe a comprehensive approach is needed to improve health in all forms. Effectively identifying and treating behavioral health concerns requires addressing the many factors – both medical and non-medical – that influence our health.

Our new Behavioral Health infographic shows how people’s behavioral health got notably worse during the pandemic:

  • 4 in 10 adults reported symptoms of anxiety or depression in 2021; this is up from 1 in 10 in 2019.
  • 37% reported thoughts of suicide or self-harm in 2020.
  • There was an 18% rise in drug overdoses during the early months of the pandemic.
  • 1 in 5 COVID-19 survivors had a first-time diagnosis of anxiety, depression, or insomnia.
  • Self-harm was up 333% and overdoses were up 120% among teens.

As the effects of the pandemic ease, it’s important that our members have continued access to mental and physical healthcare to avoid long-term impact on their overall health. Share the infographic with your clients to help them understand how we’re leveraging our expertise, technology, and innovation to make a difference.
