Scripps remains in-network today, so there are no immediate changes. We are working hard to keep Scripps in our network and remain hopeful that new terms can be reached. If we are unable to do so, Scripps will no longer be part of our local network beginning October 1, 2026.
On October 1, 2026, we will generally no longer authorize or approve scheduled or elective admissions to Scripps Health Hospitals for Anthem Blue Cross or Anthem Blue Cross Life and Health Insurance Company members. This includes:
- Scripps Green Hospital
- Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas
- Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla
- Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego
- Scripps Mercy Chula Vista
We understand that changes like this can be disruptive for members and providers. We have notified physicians who admit to Scripps Health so they can help coordinate admissions for all Anthem members to alternate facilities.
On August 3, 2026, we mailed notices to the following HMO and PPO members:
- HMO members currently assigned to Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines or Scripps Coastal Medical Center.
- PPO members who received services from Scripps Health within the past 12 months.
Members:
- Should make sure they confirm network participation with their providers before receiving care.
- Can use the Find Care feature on the Sydney® Health app or anthem.com/ca to locate hospitals and facilities in their plan’s network.
Members who are pregnant, currently undergoing a course of treatment, have a current authorization for healthcare services, or are otherwise concerned about disruption of treatment, should call 844-971-0117 or call the Member Services number on their ID cards. Both numbers are toll-free.
