Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plan Rated Top Commercial Health Plan in Connecticut by NCQA

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut’s (Anthem) HMO/POS plan was rated 4.5 out of 5 in the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) commercial Health Plan Ratings for 2025, making it the top-rated commercial health plan in the state. This rating recognizes Anthem as a leader in supporting its members with access to high-quality healthcare services.

“Earning this recognition demonstrates the strength of our partnerships with care providers, employers, and communities in Connecticut to expand access to quality, affordable care that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” said Lou Gianquinto, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut. “We will continue to innovate and invest in solutions that help our members achieve better health outcomes.”

Anthem’s plan was rated 4.5 out of 5 overall in NCQA’s commercial Health Plan Ratings for 2025 and scored 5 out of 5 stars on specific measures such as: members’ overall rating of the plan; preventive care including children receiving recommended immunizations by age 2 and members receiving recommended breast, colorectal, and cervical cancer screenings; and members with diabetes maintaining blood pressure below 140/90 and a glycemic status below 8 percent, among other measures.

NCQA, a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality, released its 2025 Health Plan Ratings earlier this month. The report rates more than 1,000 commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid health insurance plans on a 5-point scale for patient experience, prevention, and treatment. NCQA awards 4.5–5 stars to health plans that are the highest-rated in the nation, exemplifying high-quality care, excellent clinical results, strong member satisfaction, and improved health outcomes. The insights gained from the NCQA ratings are vital in enhancing interventions, delivering impactful programs, and shaping future strategies, as well as helping consumers, employers, and others make more informed healthcare choices about the quality and effectiveness of health plans.
