In January 2024, our parent company acquired Paragon Healthcare, which is now part of CarelonRx. With expanded capabilities to make access to specialty medications more affordable and convenient, CarelonRx has begun migrating members and their dependents who have a specialty medication filled at CVS Specialty Pharmacy to Paragon Healthcare.
We’re committed to providing a smooth transition for members. If a member or dependent takes a medication that isn’t available through Paragon, they will continue to receive their medicine through their current Medical Specialty Pharmacy. These migrations are occurring in phases:
- December 1, 2025: all new starts of medications assigned to the Medical Specialty Pharmacy will go directly to Paragon Healthcare.
- All new groups with effective dates of January 1, 2026, and later will start on Paragon regardless of their migration date.
We’re sending a letter to your impacted clients (timing based on state notification requirements) as well as their providers, so there’s nothing you need to do. Paragon will also call each member to gather important information prior to the migration. Paragon will also reach out to their provider, if needed.
Members taking hemophilia medication and those in Maine, Nevada, and Wisconsin migrated to Paragon earlier this year.
